This picture was given to me by my
Grandfather. Here is what he has to say about it:
"The Norseman in the photo was a military UC-6A and
was deployed
with the USAF 8th AF. Apparently the aircraft made a forced
landing
and, in so doing, damaged the left hand landing gear strut. The black and white stripes on the belly were painted on all U.S. aircraft which flew over the continent following D-Day. These stripes enabled fighter aircraft to be distinguished from German aircraft." -- Robert Noorduyn, May 2001
"This is a picture of Major Fred E. Jacob, cmdr of the 310th Ferrying Squadron at Warton, England in 1944. He claimed this Norseman to be his personal plane." -- R. Paddy Walker Note: Thanks for sending me this picture Mr. Walker!!! -- Julie
